QUESTION ---- Why is the 180 degree line of longitude called the international date line?

ANSWER -----

180° Longitude is also called International Date Line (IDL) because the either two sides of the International Date Line have two different dates.

If two persons start from 0° longitude
One goes towards east and the other towards West, then The one travelling towards east is ahead by 12 hours and the one travelling towards west is behind by 12 hours when they again meet at 180°.

So the Total Difference between both of these persons is 24 hours i.e. 1 Day.

That is why it is called INTERNATIONAL DATE LINE.
