Answer

Cutting down trees takes away the oxygen. When we cut down trees, we are taking a home away from animals. We loosen the ground which mostly causes landslides. Trees cause shade and without that shade the ground dries up faster and there is not as much nutrients. Tree felling in Karnataka is covered under the Karnataka Preservation of Trees Act 1976. The act explicitly mentions that no person can fell any tree, or cause any tree to be felled in any land, whether in their ownership or occupancy or otherwise, except with the previous permission of the Tree Officer. It is a criminal offence to prune, fell, damage or harm a protected tree, unless the works are exempt. You must get our permission before carrying out any works to a protected tree, or receive an unlimited fine or criminal conviction.
