Why is the access time of the cache memory lesser than the access memory of the main memory?

the cache memory access time is less than the access time of main memory by a factor 5 to 10 . The basic characteristics of cache memory is it fact access time

Explanation:

The reason for the access memory to have the lesser than that of the access memory of the main memory   because of the fact that the cache file comprises of less space than that of the main memory. The cache memory is a fastest RAM which is inside the processor and the processor do not use the system bus to store or get data in the cache memory.
