when there were no humans around them then only albatross came everday near them and enjoy with them.Hence they considerd albatross as Christian soul

The albatross was called as a Christian soul because the mariners thought the Providence sent a living creature to them for company to response their prayers .They were so glad to find new creature at the pole where they had not seen any living being or animals for days together .So in their happiness they called as Christian soul..
