Answer:

Khejarli or Khejadli is a village in Jodhpur district of Rajasthan, India, 26 kilometres (16 mi) south-east of the city of Jodhpur. The name of the town is derived from Khejri (Prosopis cineraria) trees that were once abundant in the village. In this village 363 Bishnois sacrificed their lives in 1730 AD while protecting green Khejri that are considered sacred by the community. The incident was a forebear of the 20th-century

The area of khejadli green even in the desert due to:

  • It has high frost and drought resistant and it can tolerate extreme temperature .

  • It can grow without much water . And due to good chlorophyll content they are green in colour.

  • It also can withstand hottest winds , driest season and stay alive even when other plants can't survive.

  • It can tolerate moderate salinity of soli and prefers alluvial soil (consist of various mixture of sand and clay).

  • It is initially green in colour but it will become yellow or dull brown on maturity.

  • Prosopis cineraria is the scientific name of this tree , it is found in Khejarli in Marwar, Rajasthan. Amrita Devi Bishnoi died while saving these khejri trees.
