why is the average velocity of the molecule is zero but the average of the square velocity will not be zero?

Then the average velocity will not be zero. However, in a room, with no wind or draft, there will be zero average velocity because, although all the gas molecules are moving, there is no net motion of the gas, no wind. ... If the average is zero, then some values are positive and some values are negative.

HOPE IT HELPS

please i have given my 100% MARK IT BRAINLIST PLZZ

LETS TAKE EXAMPLE OF AN IDEAL GAS....

As molecules of an ideal gas are in random motion and net velocity will zero in both counter and anti counter directions... (A MOLECULE IN A PARTICULAR DIRECTION MUST HAVE AN OPPOSITE MOLECULE IN DIRECTION WISE SO 1 POSITIVE WITH ONE NEGATIVE WILL MAKE A DIPOLE TYPE SYSTEM ie ISOLATED SYSTEM ....as DIPOLE HAS NET CHARGE ZERO)

coz of average of velocities will contain + nd - both signs for each direction but when we takes squares of them -ive directions will also becomes positive--------- and would become +ive answer always
