the base of a dam is building made wide becoz of facing the pressure of water also the pressure between both side

mathipriyasandeep: No. It is made wider because, the pressure exerted by water downwards increases with depth. So as the depth increases the pressure increases. So to withstand the high pressure exerted by the water at greater depth, the walls of the dams in its bottom are made wider, as wider walls can withstand a high pressure
