because life in rural areas are more difficult or we can say that they have less technology so they do their work themselves and need more energy. whereas urban areas are developed and have better facilities.
ex. rural - they have to travel to well for water
urban- water is available in taps

The calorie requirement of rural area more than in urban areas as the people in rural area had to do lots of work to earn for there livelihood as in rural area they live in joint family, so to feed all members they had to work a bit harder and in any work they get as expected to people in urban areas as they have advanced technology and skilled workers and have materialistic thing available to them in cheaper price but in rural area they have to go out of there house in search of water form more then 1 miles.
