Why is the ceiling and wall behind the stage of good conference halls or concert halls made curved?

It is done so to reflect the sound waves as much as possible. reverberation to some extent is good in these types of halls.

In order to prevent the occurance of an echo. Since, the minimum distance for an echo to occur is 17m further so

ion369: and some special material is also used which absorbs low frequency sounds which is enchaned by the increased surface area of wall and ceiling
