as sunlight reaches our atmosphere molecules in the air scatter the bluer light but let the red light pass through.scientist call this Rayleigh scattering.
when the sun is high in the sky ,it appears it's true colour: white .at sunrise and sunset,we see a much redder sun ......

The sky appears to be blue because the white light coming from the sun reaches the earth's atmosphere , when this happens the photons begin scattering , first the violet and indigo scatters followed by blue , blue scatters near to the earth's surface therefore the sky appears Blue.
