why is the colour of sun at sunrise and sunset is red?

Because the red has highest wavelength and on sunrise and sunset the most of colour gets scattered and the red colour reaches the eyes so it appears to be red during sunrise and sunset

because the sun is low on the horizon sunlight passes through more air at sunset and sunrise than during the day,when sun is higher in the sky. More atmosphere means more molecules to scatter the voilet and blue light away from your eyes..... this is way sunset are often yellow,orange and red
