the conversion of ethanol to ethanoic acid is an oxidation reaction because oxygen is added to ethanol to convert it into ethanoic acid.

A loss of the Hydrogen is know as the oxidation and the reaction is an oxidation reaction and it has second step a oxygen atom is added to form ethonoic acid from the ethanol and from the above it is well clear that the conversion of ethanol to ethonoic acid is an oxidation reaction in a fine manner.
