Why is the cutting edge of knife should be a sharp as possible?

The contact surface of the knife is very small when it is very sharp. So the cutting edges of knife should be sharp. This is because when the area of the knife decreases , pressure . ... This means that when area increases pressure decreases.

A sharp knife cut objects better because due to its very thin edge, the force of our hand falls over a very small area of the object producing the large pressure and this large pressure cuts the object easily.
