why is the demand for fresh water increasing?

Shortage of fresh water and rapidly increasing population are causes responsible for the increasing demand of fresh water.

SouvikSarkar: this rapid growth in populayion is responsible for 1/2 of the lowering of underground water level

Because the underground water level is getting lower day by day, and the underground water is the only source of fresh water... Only 1/2 part of water is fresh and suitable to drink.. Most of it is salt water
