Why is the derivative of a linear function a constant?

A linear function with a constant is denote by f(x) = y = mx+c;

Here m and c are the contact of that function;

x is independent variable and based on the value of x, y is varies;

derivative of f(x) is f'(x) = m;

because derivative.of mx w.r.t. x is m
