Why is the difference between durations of day and night hardly felt at Kanyakumari but not so in Kashmir

At the equator the duration of day and night is equal i.e. 12 hrs each . But as we move away from the equator difference can be felt between the duration of day and night i.e. it is no more equal .

As Kanyakumari is nearer to the equator than Kashmir so the difference between durations of day and night hardly felt at Kanyakumari but not so in Kashmir .
