The election commission is termed as independent because of the following reasons :

★ It works independently.

★ It has no pressure of any higher power.

★ It is just like RBI and SCI . The similarity is that all these are different from government.

★ Government is not having any access to the election commission.

Thus we can say that the election commission is independent.

RBI : Reserve Bank of India

SCI : Supreme Court of India

The Election Commission (EC) of India is termed as one of the most powerful Commission in the world. The reason is simple, it is independent and powerful. It is termed as independent because :-

1) The CEC (Chief Election Commissioner) is appointed by the President of India and not by the cabinet ministers. This means that the CEC wouldn't work for the government indirectly.

2) Once appointed, the CEC can't be removed even by the President until he/she completes his/her tenure.

3) The ruling party has no control over EC. It enjoys its own powers like the Judiciary.

4) EC is responsible for the free and fair Elections in India. EC can remove a candidate of any party from Election if found guilty.

5) The EC also controls the government during the elections till the results are declared.

6) The EC can consider any party or candidate as ineligible for the Election if the party doesn't passes the qualification criteria.

Hope it helps dear friend ☺️
