At the time of fertilization in angiosperms, 2 male gametes reaches the ovary,one of the male gamete fuses with the nucleus of egg cell and results in the formation of diploid zygote and the other male gamete moves toward the polar nuclie in the central cell (which is diploid )
and it fuses with it and results in the formation of PEN(Primary Endosperm Nucleus) which is triploid .
n of male gamete and 2n of polar nuclie= 3n of endosperm
This process is called triple fusion.
FUNCTIONS OF ENDOSPERMS
Endosperm development precedes embryo development to provide nutrition to the embryo . Main function is to provide nutrition to the developing embryo.
Examples of endosperms-- castor and coconut

\huge{\boxed{\boxed{\underline{\bf ANSWER}}}}

During fertilization in an angiosperm plant, the two male gametes enters the ovary of the female through the pollen tube. As the two male gametes enter the ovary of the female, one gamete fuses with the egg present in the ovary resulting in the formation of zygote which is diploid in nature.

  • While the other male gamete

fuses with the 2 polar nuclei or the central nucleus and forms a triploid structure called the Primary Endoplasmic Nucleus (PEN). The male gamete is haploid and central nucleus is diploid so the endosperm formed becomes triploid.

This is how triploid endosperm is formed.

\huge{\underline{\underline{Function\:Of\:Endosperm}}}

The main function of endosperm is to provide nutrition to the developing embryo to help for growth and differentiation.

Examples of endosperms are : Wheat Endosperm and Barley Endosperm.
