Bastille was considered a huge victory for the people of France, because Bastille was considered as a Military Stronghold and symbolized the despotic power and rule of the Monarch.
So, when Bastille was brought to the knees by the people of France, they were heartened or amoralized to further fight against Monarchy.

The fall of Bastille was a very important part of French history as Bastille was a fortress and a prison which stood for the despotic(absolute) power of the king. By destroying it, they also raided the arms and ammunition which was enough to rebel against the French king.
