Why is the flow of rivers on the western coastal plains faster ?

Explanation:

Length of a river depend upon the distance between it’s source and the sea in which it meets. Rivers of western coastal plains emerged from western Ghats which is very near to Arabian sea then how can river’s of western plains can be large. In case of Tapi and Narmada they are long because they don’t start from western ghats.

It flows in a rift valley parallel to the Narmada but it is much shorter in length. Its basin covers parts of Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra. The coastal plains between Western Ghats and the Arabian Sea are very narrow. Hence, the coastal rivers are short........so it flows faster.....
