The ‘Golgi apparatus’ is called as the secretory organ of the cell because it packages and transports materials in an ‘out of the cell’.
The Golgi apparatus serves as an important organelle of the protein transport machinery of the cell. The tertiary or the quaternary protein that comes out of the ‘Endoplasmic reticulum’, gets labelled with respect to the area to which it has to reach inside the cell.
Depending upon its label it is packaged using several vesicles to different parts of the cell.
