why is the government not compelling states to adopt hindi as the official language?

GOVERNMENT IS NOT COMPELLING STATES TO ADOPT HINDI AS AN OFFICIAL LANGUAGE BECAUSE STATE LIKE TAMIL NADU IS A NON HINDI SPEAKING STATE AND THEY DONT ACCEPT HINDI AS AN OFFICIAL LANGUAGE.

India is a home of many languages like Kannada,Telugu,Tamil etc tho the Hindi speakers are in majority and the other language speakers are in minority our government give equal importance to all so if they make Hindi a official language there can be rebellion
