Why is the growing season in Ladakh short?

Ladakh located at very high level and it is surrounded with high mountains . Because of this conditions Ladakh face snow all over the year. so, only in the mid Summer it is the favourable conditions for plants for grow. That is why the growing season in Ladakh is short.
