The Himadri got this name because the mountain of the Himalayas covered whole year with snow.

According to Hindi Mythology, ‘Him’ means ice and ‘Adri’ means layer, which means layers of Ice. So, a large amount of layers of ice are formed together to resemble as a mountain.

The average estimated height of Mount Everest is 6000 meters. The northernmost range is known as the Greater Inner Himalayas or the Himadri. It is playing a great role in protecting India from cold winds.
