Why is the hydration enthalpy of the fluoride ion(-506KJ/mole) more negative than the hydration enthalpy of the chloride ion(-364KJ/mol)

Fluoride ion has smaller size than chloride ion, and hence more water molecules can surround the fluoride ion. Therefore, F⁻ has higher hydration enthalpy than Cl⁻
