suppose for the present that a particular country is quite developed. we would certainly like this level of devolopment to go up further or at least be maintained for future generations. this is obviously desirable.  groundwater is an example of renewable resourses. these resources are replenished by nature as in the case of crops and plants .even these resources may be overused . in case of groundwater , if we use more than what is being replenished by rain then we would be overusing this resource. non renewable resources are those which will get exhausted after years of use. we have fixed stock on earth which cannot be replenished

Answer:

The issue of sustainability is important for development, because the current methods and levels of development are over-exploiting the natural resources and degrading the environment drastically. Therefore the current forms of development are not sustainable. If the natural resources are not judiciously used, the global development is prone to stagnate at some point and furthermore, start to deplete. Take for example, the issue of ground water. Ground water is a natural resource. But using it more rapidly than its replenishing by rain has resulted in its overuse and wells and reservoirs have dried up in many places. This tells that sustainable development is the only way, we can secure a safer future.
