why is the JUDICIARY kept Independent?​

The judiciary is kept independent from the executive and the legislature so that in the matter of its judgements it is not influenced in any manner by these other two pillars of our democracy. Most so as it adjudicates over constitutional matters as much as under civil and criminal law.

It is vitally important in a democracy that individual judges and the judiciary as a whole are impartial and independent of all external pressures and of each other so that those who appear before them and the wider public can have confidence that their cases will be decided fairly and in accordance with the law.
