\textbf{Importance of Judiciary}

The judiciary in India is the third pillar of democracy. The judiciary interprets the laws and applies them to resolve disputes that arise between individual citizens, between states of India, centre and a state or more than one state.

The judiciary protects the rights of the citizens. It is the guardian of the Constitution which upholds the Fundamental Rights and liberties of citizens.

It is vitally important in a democracy that individual judges and the judiciary as a whole are impartial and independent of all external pressures and of each other so that those who appear before them and the wider public can have confidence that their cases will be decided fairly and in accordance with the law.
