- Because the light travels at a very high speed(299 792 458 m/s )whereas the sound travels at low speed as compared to light I. e. (343m/s) so as the thunder occur the light. So as the light travels very very quickly to our eyes so we can see the light first and as sound take much time to reach our ears . So we see the light first during thunder .
