Lung alveoli are quite covered with blood capillaries to transfer oxygen to different parts of the body. Oxygen is required by the body cells to get energy for replenishment. Moreover, it also helps the heart to optimize its working efficiency as the oxygen rapidly diffuses into the blood and release carbon dioxide.

Hi friend
Here is the answer
The blood brings oxygen to the body cells and takes away their carbon dioxide. ... The carbon dioxide in the blood is exchanged for oxygen in the alveoli. These tiny air sacs in the lungs are only one cell thick and they are surrounded by capillaries that are also only one cell thick.
Hope it helps
