why is the m.p/b.p of covalent is higher then ionic? eg: diamond has very high m.p/b.p.

Answer:

Diamond has high melting and boiling point because of the strong attraction force between the molecules in It. In Covalent bond , the electrons are mutually shared where both the elements became dependent on each other whereas in Ionic bond, the elecrons are either donated or accepted. And they do not depend on each other once the electrons are shared. In these bonds both the elements became stable so on heating they got separated.
