Why is the map a bad example in the poem an elementary school classroom in a slum?

The map shows a world that is beautiful and bright. In contrast, the world for these slum children is confined to the narrow and dirty streets of the slum.

To the children, the true world is not the one shown in the map, it is what they get to see through the foggy windows of the classroom. Their world is dark with no hope of improvement in the future. Hence, the map is a bad example.

Hope it helps!
