melting of wax is a physical change but burning of a candle is a chemical change. In melting of wax, only the state of wax changes from solid to liquid. It is a reversible reaction and no new substance is formed. ... When thecandle burns, the wax slowly meltswhich freezes after some time (Physical change).

anurag5473: burning of a candle is both physical and chemical change because the melted wax can be reused so it is reversible and when candle burns it gives out carbon dioxide

Because wax cannot be reversed and candle can be reversed.
