Why is the moon described as a "silent planet"?

The sound is louder when a struck tuning fork is held against a table because the surface of the table is set into vibration. This results in more air molecules vibrating which makes the sound louder. Why is the moon describedas the silent “planet”? silent planetbecause it has no atmosphere to transmit sounds.
