Why is the nitrogen molecule less reactive?

Nitrogen is chemically less reactive. This is because of the high stability of its molecule.

the two nitrogen atoms form a triple bond. This triple bond has very high bond strength, which is very difficult to break. It is because of nitrogen's small size that it is able to form pπ−pπ bonds with itself.

☆Nitrogen is not found naturally as an ion. It is found as N2 , bonded to itself with a covalent bond and thus being a symmetrical uncharged molecule it is then unwilling to react with each other spices because it is quite satisfied with its electronic configuration.
