why is the north -south extent of india larger than its east west extent even though the latitudinal and longitudinal extent in degrees are of same value

Hey mate!!

Here's your answer!

This happens due to the fact that as we move towards the poles, the extent between two longitudes decreases. That means that they come closer and closer. This however doesn't happens with the latitudes. Therefore, though the numerical differences between the latitudes and the longitudes of India is same, the North-south extent appears larger.

This is because the distance between two latitude is always 111 km i.e. always same whereas between two longitudes at is the maximum at the equator and decrease towards the pole
