why is the northern hemisphere called land hemisphere

it is called so because it is surrounded by only land but it in southern hemisphere of India it is surrounded by oceans.....

• Most portion of Northern hemisphere is occupied by land i.e continent Asia Africa north America Europe  and portion of southern hemisphere is occupied by south America and Australia  but mostly by water  .
