why is the northern hemisphere called land hemisphere and sourthen hemisphere called as water hemisphere

see.....most portion of Northern hemisphere is occupied by land i.e continent Asia Africa north America Europe
and portion of southern hemisphere is occupied by south America and Australia
but mostly by water


so....northern hemisphere is land and southern hemisphere is water hemisphere
