because sperms travel distance which is difficult for sperm and some of the sperm is not meture for fertilization.

The number of sperm produce in male is high because while moving in uterus of women some dies off and some move in different direction where ova is not there.So the number of sperm produced is high.Futhermore it increases chance of fertilization.
