plasma membrane or cell membrane is a thin sheet of skin that covers the cell .it protects the cell and also gives shape to the cell .the cell membrane has tiny pores in it .the dissolved substance such as food (glucose)and oxygen can enter into the cell whereas the waste products such as carbon dioxide can go out from the cells through the pores it separates the cell from other cells and also from the surrounding medium .it is the living part of a cell
