Plasma membrane is called selectively permeable bcz is exchange selected/required material to enter in the cell.

"It is because plasma membrane alloys some material to pass through it while on the same times is blocks other material from entering through it........ In other words is select materials that can enter the cells.. That is the reason it is called as selectively permeable membrane. "
