Plasma membrane called selectively premeable membrane because it regulates the substance in and out of the cell. The substance like oxygen and water move in and out of the cell by the help of diffusion from higher concentration to lower concentration

Plasma Membrane is known as the selectively permeable Membrane because it allows the full passage of solvents through it but not all the solutes it selects a few solutes from all the solutes....
Substances like oxygen moves in and out through the process of diffusion
and Water moves in and out through the process of osmosis..
Hope it will help you mate.....
please say a thanks too it...if it has helped you
