the poet want to convey that he was not to harm the snake because he was respecting him as the snake had came from the ground, so he had referred that the snake is a king of the underground world .

The voice of the education forced him to attack the snake. But the poet felt sad after attacking the snake as he thought that the snake was attacked by him without any valid reason.
The poet wanted to express that he didn’t want to harm that snake as he respected the snake as it had come from ground.
