Answer:

Walt Whitman is so impressed with the animals because he finds animals to be far more contented and wiser than the human beings. According to him animals are calm, placid, and self-contained.

The poet is impressed with the way animals don’t sweat, whine, sulk, regret, rue, and don’t waste their time discussing their duties to God. None of them is unhappy. Animals unlike human beings are not hypocrites; they accept the poet as he is and present themselves to the poet as they are.

The poet feels so much comfortable among them. So, he wishes to live with them.

hey guys. this may help you

walt Whitman was impressed with animals because they are very pure hearted. they do not cry about their sins laying in the dark.they donot pray to God to forgive them. they are very cheerful and positive. they don't bow to anyone or think that anybody is superior than them and treat everybody as equal.they know how to give respect to each and everyone.poet says that years ago humans used to have these qualities.they may have dropped these on the way and animals would have picked these qualities. he wishes that may humans also possess these qualities again.
