Why is the post office referred to as Ali's place of pilgrimage? What trait of Ali does it refers?

because he everyday go there with a hope to get his daughter's letter . he everyday visit there and sat on a particular bench in a particular corner . this shows his hope ,love ,
and pain of separation .

Pilgrimage is the place where people go with faith and hope for getting thing what they want. Same thing Ali did he went post office everyday with faith and hope for getting a letter of her lovely daughter Miriam.This way post office became a pilgrimage for Ali.
