President is actually a nominal head whereas the real power is in the hands of a Prime Minister. Hence, if we compare them Prime Minister is more powerful than a president.

1. The term president generally refers to the nominal head of a state of any republic country. A prime minister can usually be the leader the head of the government of any country that is under a constitutional monarchy like Australia, a republic monarchy like France, or any other government system.

2. The Prime Minister always belongs to that party that has secured a majority of people's votes in the Lok Sabha election whereas the President does not need to belong to any political party.

3. The Prime Minister does not have the political power to declare any state of an emergency whereas the President has all the power to declare any state of emergency.
