Why is the rate of breathing in aquatic organisms much faster than in Terrestrial organisms

it's very poor amount of oxygen dissolve in water & to extract that have to breath faster

because terrestrial animals can easily take oxygen from the atmosphere while the aquatic animals ,they have to take it from the water which is a mixture of hydrogen and oxyven
