Newtons second law says Force acting on a body is directly proportional to the rate of change of momentum of the body.

Mathematical expression

F=dp/dt

so if time taken for a change in momentum is more then Force acting is less.

shock Absorbers act like spring to increase the time interval in which momentum change occurs. so resulting force is less and there are no sudden shocks felt during motion.
