1. Soil erosion = If a large number of trees are removed the soil is bare. The top soil, rich in organic matter, may be washed away by water, or swept away by wind. Trees help to tie up the soil.

2. Natural tree growth rate = It is difficult to restore forests in a few days or months, as trees take many years to completely grow. Thus forest replenishment becomes essential regularly.

3. Wood and fuel = Forests is the best source of timber for furnishing and wood. For their endless supply the forests therefore need to be replenished.

4. Rainfall = During transpiration the trees send out an enomorous amount of water vapour. This water vapor assists in creating clouds of rain. So if trees are cut and not replenished, the rainfall of the area would then decrease.
