Why is the respiratory rate of aquatic organisms more than compared to terrestrial organisms

because aquatic organism have dissolved oxygen in the water which less in the water whereas terrestrial organism take oxygen from environment which is more in compare to water.

<b>The amount of dissolved oxygen in water is fairly low compared to the amount of oxygen in the air. So the rate of breathing in aquatic organisms is much than faster than Terristrial animals.
